About Us

Our Origins

What started out as 2 Sisters Flower Farm a couple of lifetimes ago has morphed through the last couple decades into what we know as Bellaflora Floral Design Studio. A place to get away, slow down and take in beauty. Breathe deeply, draw in the floral aromas and feast your eyes on interesting finds. Flowers, plants, art and unique gifts.

Kyla

Flowers & all things botanical have been a lifelong love for Kyla. Having grown up in the mountains of the Kootenays, she spent her days enthralled by the natural wonders of the forest. These fascinations continued to grow & were greatly influenced by her moms gardens & passion for flowers.

For many years she worked in the world of display, design & decor before venturing into the floral industry. A couple of deeply rewarding years were spent growing cut flowers for local markets and weddings with her sister Molly. Then, garnering inspiration from time spent living & working as a florist in California & Australia, she finally fulfilled her dream of opening her own Studio back in her hometown of Nelson. So began Bellaflora 12 years ago! Raising two daughters at the same time has been her greatest joy. The challenges of raising a family and business ownership balanced by the ever inspiring art of working with flowers.

Probably her favourite place to be is in her gardens, cultivating unique flowers to add to her designs .

Liana

Raised amidst the serenity of the mountains, Liana is driven by a lifelong love for nature and the inherent beauty of flowers. After having a successful career as an event planner on Vancouver Island, the Kootenays were calling her home. Four years ago she found her niche as a floral artisan in the vibrant world of flowers and plants at Bellaflora, alongside her sister Kyla.

The joy she finds from having the creative freedom and opportunity to be a part of all the special moments of your lives is the inspiration behind each one of her artistic creations.

Jessie

Growing up among avid gardeners and a backyard overflowing with vegetation, Jessie’s appreciation of flowers started early in life. But don’t ask her to pick a favourite flower (it changes weekly). Originally from Ontario, she relocated to BC in 2016, eventually settling in Nelson. Starting her journey as a florist in 2021 and has since continued to hone her craft by working with different florists in the West Kootenays. She enjoys the process of creating with her hands to make unique and beautiful arrangements and relishes the chance to play with colour, texture, and levels. Collaboration and exploration in the world of florals keeps her passionate and dedicated to making an emotional impact with her work.
